Public Art Project Moves Forward

The request for funding will support PVAC’s “Platte Valley Public Art Project” in which planning has occurred forseveral months.  The PVAC wilimplement a public art program featuring at least six murals and sculptureslocated in public spaces in the communities of Saratoga, Encampment andRiverside.  The project will culminatewith a Grand Reveal Event featuring the artists during Labor Day 2022.  The goal is to promote art and encourage discussions amongst those who experience this art.  ThePlatte Valley is already known as a tourist destination and home to well-knownartists, and this program will further that reputation with the results ofincreasing economic diversity, quality of life, and population growth.

According to Stacy Crimmins, Project Coordinator, the project budget is over $122,000 and involves six local artists.  Crimmins is currentlymatching artists with suitable locations and confirms that a sculpture will belocated in the Tyler Pickett Park and at least one piece will be commissioned with the family of recently deceased artist Jerry Palen.
