scholarship application

The Platte Valley Arts Council Scholarships are awarded each year to a graduating senior from either the Saratoga High School or the Encampment High School.  Requirements include enrollment in a higher education institute, an average GPA, examples of their art form, and letters of recommendation.  One does not need to major in an art field, or attend a four-year college.  

how to apply

In 1999, the program began with a $500 scholarship.
Through various fundraising efforts, the Board is now able to  offer three scholarships totaling $1500 each year.

  • Gabe Springsteen Memorial Scholarship Award - $750
    Gabe was the arts council’s first recipient of the scholarship. He was a very talented musician and acoustic guitar player. He went to school to become a luthier, or stringed instrument maker. Just a few years later, Gabe was killed in a tragic auto accident.
  • Linda Fisher-Perue Memorial Scholarship Award - $500
    Linda was the beloved art teacher at the Saratoga schools for many years. She served as the Platte Valley Festival of the Arts Art Show Chair and managed the public art project in 2006. Linda and her husband, John are Honorary Lifetime Members of PVAC.
  • Platte Valley Arts Council Award - $250

Qualifications

The recipients, determined by commitee, will be worthy graduates from Saratoga High School and/or Encampment High School who:

  • Displays an active involvement in an area of Fine Arts
  • Demonstrates the likelyhood of future involvement in the Arts
  • Plans to pursue a post-secondary education
  • Maintains a GPA of 2.0 or higher

Application Requirements

  1. A cover letter outlining future plans. Please include the role arts will play in your life.
  2. Two letters of recommendation from a teacher or sponsor in the student's area of art interest.
  3. High School transcript
  4. Resume of activities, awards and interests
  5. One example of your art form in .jpg file format. If student is a performing artists or musician, a taped performance should be provided in .mp3 format. Photographs of three-dimensional objects are acceptable.

Award Requirements

  • Award is a starter scholarship for freshmen year only at a post-secondary school and is non-renewable.
  • Award is payable directly to the award recipient.
  • Proof of registration at the post-secondary institution must be provided.

Applications must be received by April 15th-No exceptions.
