Adding More Art to the Valley
The Platte Valley Arts Council (PVAC) will soon be able to add more public art to the North Platte Valley due in part to a grant received from the Wyoming Community Foundation.
Platte Valley Arts Council is a nonprofit organization serving Saratoga, Encampment and Riverside with arts and cultural events and programs. PVAC has worked to keep art in our everyday lives and believes funds received will strengthen the work being done. Rural communities are held together by its citizens: those who work and play in the immediate area and have a vested interestin the success of their community. PVAC has identified the Public Art Project to further its own mission because it promotes a community culture of pride, increases the quality of life for thecommunity, and encourages awareness that art comes in a variety of forms andcan be enjoyed by everyone and anyone.
Projects impact the art community
Platte Valley Public Art Project Coordinator, Stacy Crimmins, says the Arts Council projects have been incredibly positive to the community.
“Last year, we were able to commission and install two beautiful new murals in the Valley. This new funding will help ensure that PVAC will be able to commission six ocal artists and install six new murals or sculptures this fall.”
